Wild Bill's 12 Station Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder Review

This feeder works great! Squirrels do a nice backflip off when they get zapped. They don't get on again. So far it has also kept the opossums and raccoons off as well.
I tried one of those lithium batteries in it and it did not work well. I'd stick with alkaline. I haven't had to replace them too often. About every 4-6 months I put in a new one just to be on the safe side.

This model is very large. I love being able to dump in this much sunflower seed and then not have to fill the feeder for a few weeks. I have it mounted on a pole and it works great there. The bottom tray is just big enough for cardinals and sometimes a mourning dove to land. Smaller perching birds have no problem on it.

Just remember to flip the switch to off before you try to fill it ;)It will give you a nice strong zap that you can feel from your finger to your shoulder.

I've had this now for about 4 years and it's weathered quite well being outside year round. If it stopped working tomorrow I would buy another one. It saves me a ton in the seed I used to waste on those squirrels. It saves me the frustration of finding my feeders ravaged by raccoons who used to leave them strewn across the yard.

I have nothing bad to say about this product.I have been using it for several weeks now and it is definitely my favorite.The birds love it, too! ;)

The perches are adjustable from underneath the base.Supposedly this allows you to choose which size birds you would like to accomodate.I open it all the way, and the regulars (finches, sparrows, titmice, chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers) have no problem using it.Larger birds may be able to use it, with some difficulty. I have seen the blue jay use it, and it was quite comical. He perched, squatted and maneuvered his body sideways to get the seed.The mechanism underneath sometimes gets stuck, but it always responds with some tooling around.

-NO WASTE!!!The lowest perches are on the very bottom of the feeder, which means the birds themselves are cleaning it out.There is none of that moldy old seed left in the bottom.You could easily get away with cleaning this once every few weeks.

-Extremely reasonable price.

-Pleasant green color, sturdy plastic, easy to clean.

-Select A Seed feature allows for nijer.

Filling it is easy but I "close" the ports first (move to nijer, with the tiny opening), fill it with hulled sunflower and safflower, then "open" the ports once again.There is some spillage, of maybe 15 seeds, which I save for the next filling.If you don't close the ports first, seed easily spills out while filling.

There are no cons for this product.But I will say that it is definitely NOT squirrel-proof, so if you have a problem with the voracious squirrels (and most people do), this is not a good choice for you.

Perky Pet 120TF Top-Fill Push-Pull Hummingbird Feeder, Magnolia Review

We were looking for a wider, lower-profile hummer feeder that wouldn't sway as wildly, as our area is quite windy. This looked the part. But BEWARE!! I don't think the mfr. even tested this feeder! Within a single day, all the sugar water leaked out the bottom, creating exactly the sticky mess we'd hoped to avoid. Even when sitting on a level surface it did this. The problem seems to be a completely unnecessary two-piece construction for the red base, and a completely pointless foam plug at the bottom...BOTH of which leak horribly. Was able to glue together the two halves of the base, but there is no way to fix that foam plug.
Don't waste your money!

Preparing Your Hummingbird Feeder

Check to make sure the base compartments are securely tightened
Push container into base to close ports to prevent leakage
Unscrew to cap to fill with nectar
Screw cap back on securely to form an airtight seal.
Keep the feeder in the closed position until you get to the spot where you want to hang it.
To open nectar reservoir--hold base with one hand and pull up on the container with the other to open ports for feeding.
Your feeder is now ready.

Keeping your bird feeder clean and full of fresh nectar is very important to the health of visiting birds. It is recommended that you clean your seed bird feeder every two weeks and your hummingbird feeder every week. Clean your bird feeder more often in warmer weather.

Heritage Farms Absolute Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder Review

This bird feeder has a large capacity for seed and the balance is easily adjusted so that heavy squirrels cannot access the seed.However, the wooden perch is is big mistake! Aspects 381 Hummzinger Fancy Hummingbird Feeder - Rose Review

Remember that last hummingbird feeder you owned that dripped constantly, attracted bumblebees and ants and required a little bottle brush to clean?You probably gave up in sheer frustration after a few months.Well those days are long gone - the first time you fill up your Hummzinger, you will be in love with hummingbird-watching all over again.

I've owned mine for four years.I love it because it's never attracted any insects, never dripped, and cleans up easily with a sponge.The local hummers love it because they can perch and rest while they feed. I hung it from a cup hook on the eaves near the back patio door and watch them year round.It stays steady and dripless even in high winds.

Whoever designed this thing has not only a lot of common sense but a good eye for aestetics.The plainer version (mine) looks like a flying saucer, which suits me, but for Mother's Day I got my mom this fancier one, which looks as if it could stack up against the pricier glass art feeders.The Hummzinger, however, wouldn't shatter if it fell on the patio.

A few tips if you are planning on purchasing this:
1. Don't bother with the replaceable insect guards that you can buy to insert into the feeding holes. They don't do anything as far as I'm able to tell, but they are a pain and an expense.
2. Pass on the commercial nectar mixes and make your own by mixing one part sugar to four parts water (this recipe is permanently printed inside the feeder's top!). No dyes.No need to boil.I realize that boiling the mixture is traditional advice, but it's based on the mistaken notion that by sterilizing it you will keep bacteria and molds from spoiling it in the feeder. Turns out that the first time a hummingbird dips his beak into the mix, he introduces all that stuff instantly anyway. If, like me, you would be discouraged from changing it as often as you should because boiling and cooling it becomes a chore, this will free you up to be a better caretaker of your little friends.Oh, and they don't need humans to add vitamin supplementation to their nectar because they get all that from the insects they eat.
3. Hang it where you can observe it easily from your home.Enjoy!

Birds Choice Recycled Single Cake Tail Prop Suet Feeder Review

I have had this feeder for two years now and the Downys and Red-bellied woodpeckers love it.It is easy to clean and fill and has held up well, much better than wood feeders.The tail prop is large enough for the Red-bellied woodpecker. The reason I am giving it 4 stars as opposed to 5 is that the metal stays to create the hanging loop and screw inserts show rust, you would think that a non-rusting material like aluminum would be used instead. Arundale 150 Mandarin Wild Bird Feeder Review

The "dramatic" dome does not keep out rain. There's a hole for the chain at the top! Rain invariably seeps in, so that the seed at the bottom, where the birds feed, rots. Even though this feeder holds so much, I sometimes have to take it down before it's emptyto clean it. Admitedly, I live in Georgia, and we get torrential downpours. If you get only light showers, or live in a dry region, this may be the feeder for you.

However, the perches on the feeder are plastic, and are once again worn or broken. No one seems to want to stock them, so I'm on the internet looking for some. Amazon does not have them either. I'll continue my search. At some point, I'll continue my pathetic search for the perfect feeder.

If you use a pen to label the photos, it is possible that the ink might react somehow with the ink in the photo. If you must label antique photos, it is better to use a pencil of some sort. It is better for the picture because the graphite will not react. Another benefit of pencil is that if you decide you do not want it labeled, then it is easier to erase than pen.
